Job Description
Mountain Empire Community College is a comprehensive two-year college serving residents of Lee, Scott, Wise, and Dickenson counties, and the City of Norton. MECC is one of twenty-three colleges in the Virginia Community College System and operates under policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Local Advisory Board. The College is financed primarily with state funds, supplemented by contributions from the local jurisdictions. The Director of Library Services is responsible for the management of the two campus libraries, which support the diverse information needs of students, faculty, staff, and the community. The Director of Library Services reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Workforce Solutions. The position has responsibility of the Wampler Library and the Library of Appalachia.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate degree from an ALA -accredited graduate program. Experience with Open Educational Resources. Experience in community relations. Experience with collection development relevant to campus curriculum. Knowledge of the needs of non-traditional students. Additional education in management or research subject expertise. Experience with assessment of library collections. Experience with project management.
Work Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Position may be responsible for coverage of library operations during evenings and weekends.
