Bellingham Technical College is establishing a pool of applicants for part-time temporary hourly persons to assist the library with circulation, general reference, materials processing and student technology support. These are part-time, temporary, hourly positions that report to the Executive Director of the Library, eLearning & Academic Support. Hours are not guaranteed, and assignments are based on the needs of the department.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school graduation or equivalent AND one year of library technical experience or related activity (Library Assistant ll) or three years of library technical experience (Library Assistant III), or satisfactory completion of relevant course work, OR equivalent education/experience.
Specific Position Skills, Functions & Physical Work Environment:
Working with the public, working with and maintaining an integrated library management software system, especially Alma/Primo. Technical processing of library equipment and materials (experience desired). Strong computer skills including MS Office, Internet searching and database searching. Physically perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation to include, but not be limited to: Ability to retrieve and file materials on high and low shelving (hand, arm, dexterity-ability to grasp, push, pull and reach overhead); ability to step on a step-stool or short ladder, ability to stoop, bend at the waist, and kneel; ability to sit/stand for long periods of time at a desk/computer workstation, using repetitive arm, hand and finger movements. The ability to push book carts/trucks as needed. Ability to work in a semi-open office setting with frequent in-person interactions and numerous interruptions, handle multiple tasks and prioritize competing demands.
Hours, Compensation, Benefits:
This position is part-time and temporary. Work may be scheduled during regular library hours which are typically during the Monday through Thursday, 7:30am to 5:00pm workday, Fridays during the 7:30am to 4:00pm workday. (Saturday hours are not currently scheduled but may be in future quarters.) Schedule will vary and hours are not guaranteed. Currently seeking applicants minimally available during the Monday-Friday, 9am to 5pm workday.
Current hourly pay rate is $22.10 (ITRC Library Assistant II) or $23.23 (ITRC Library Assistant III). Additional benefits include paid sick leave in accordance with Washington State law and Initiative I-1433. Sick leave is accrued at 1 hour for every 40 hours worked.
