Other Conditions: To begin April 2025, pending position clearance, availability of funds, and actual staffing requirements.   Position may be converted from 11- to 9-month, and vice versa, based on operational needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Under general supervision of the Head Librarian, provides general reference and information services.
  2. Provides both in-person and virtual class instruction in the use of library and information resources.
  3. Provides leadership in shaping and coordinating the library instruction program, including collecting, compiling, and assessing meaningful library instruction data.
  4. Performs planning, development, evaluation and incorporation of new technologies.
  5. Designs materials to facilitate access to Library resources, enhance critical thinking, and promote information literacy on campus.
  6. Maintains and develops the Library webpage.
  7. Responsible for collection development and evaluation of books and online resources for one or more academic subject areas.
  8. Participates in departmental faculty and administrative committees, community service, professional and self-development activities.  Assignments may include evening and weekend hours, and off-campus locations.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification

  • Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLISc) or equivalent Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program.

Desirable Qualifications

  1. Experience in providing information literacy instruction in a variety of modalities; as well as experience in developing library instruction materials.
  2. Knowledge of the Academic & College Research Libraries (ACRL) Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education.
  3. Professional library experience in reference services, collection development and management, and assessment.
  4. Knowledge of and/or experience in using a variety of library and information resources in a post-secondary environment.
  5. Experience with library information management systems, such as the ExLibris Alma/Primo VE library system.
  6. Knowledge of web design, HTML, or LibGuides.
  7. Ability to adapt to, evaluate and use emerging information technologies.
  8. Ability to work individually and collaboratively with all levels of faculty, staff, and students with diverse academic abilities and skills.
  9. Possesses effective written and oral communication skills.
  10. Familiarity with and commitment to the mission and philosophy of community colleges.
