    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    Bachelor's Degree 
    Master's Degree 
    Valid Texas Teacher Certificate 
    Valid Texas Library Certification
    Ability to provide class, group and individual instruction 
    Ability to provide guidance for print/electronic reference tools 
    Knowledge of current literature 
    Ability to assist students and staff in selection of appropriate materials to support instructional units 
    Ability to work with parents providing outreach, literacy information, and family reading materials 
    Ability to work in library database for an effective OPAC and to manage circulation and procedures for students and staff 
    Ability to collaborate with teachers in all areas 
    Ability to creatively problem solve and provide ways for students to creatively problem solve 
    Ability to engage students in active learning 
    Ability to work with multiple types of technology available in schools and provide guidance for print/electronic reference tools 

    RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    Manage library database so catalog is relevant, current, and accurate 
    Manage library budget accurately, ethically and responsibly 
    Build a collection that meets curricular needs as well as student leisure reading needs 
    Create a library program that matches the school's goals, supporting GISD's Strategic Plan 
    Stay current on technology, library, and literature trends through personally pursued professional development 
    Engage students in active inquiry learning experiences that encourage and foster critical and original student thinking 
    Incorporate literacy skills in instruction so that all become lifelong readers and learners that can interpret and develop new understandings 
    Integrate digital citizenship so that all collaborate in an atmosphere of respect, integrity, sharing, and trust 
    Design and implement professional learning for instructional staff to facilitate student and parent engagement through the use of technology 
    Communicate with students, parents, staff, and community in a manner representative of media program, campus and district vision, mission and goals 
    Uphold and comply with school board policies, administrative regulations, rules and instructions of administrative supervisors 
    Respectfully and ethically supervise clerical aide, student aides, and volunteers 
    Willingly accept and perform duties assigned by administrators
