Job Description

The University Library at Nevada State is seeking applications for the position of Electronic Resources Librarian. Reporting to the Dean of the Library, this position provides leadership in the lifecycle management of the Library’s licensed content, including selection, licensing, activation, access, discovery, assessment, and renewal. The Electronic Resources Librarian ensures seamless access to digital resources through effective vendor communication, license negotiation, usage data analysis, and troubleshooting support. Working collaboratively with library colleagues, consortial partners, and campus stakeholders, the position supports data-informed decision-making, maintains system integrity across platforms, and contributes to budgeting and collection development efforts.

Primary Responsibilities: 

Electronic Resources Management 

  • Provide strategic direction and subject matter expertise in developing workflows, procedures, and policies that support the full lifecycle of electronic resources, including selection, licensing, activation, access, discovery, assessment, and renewal. 
  • Manage the setup, configuration, and activation of new and renewing e-resources. 
  • Work closely with library colleagues to ensure accurate and optimized discovery of e-resources in the library’s discovery layer (Primo VE). 
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for electronic resource access problems, coordinating timely communication with users and offering training and documentation for library staff engaged in this work. 
  • Guide the development and maintenance of licensing standards and workflows, including license review and negotiation. 

Collection Development and Assessment 

  • Support collection development efforts by selecting new materials, evaluating existing holdings, and contributing to user-centered policies and workflows that support evidence-based collection management. 
  • Design and implement systems for collecting and analyzing usage data across electronic and print resources to inform evidence-based collection development decisions. 
  • Participate in the evaluation and decision-making process for subscription renewals, ensuring resources align with curricular needs and fiscal priorities. 

Liaison Duties, Scholarship, and Service  

  • Provide liaison services to faculty and students in designated subject areas. 
  • Produce scholarly works, engage actively in service, and fulfill other Nevada State criteria for promotion and tenure. 

Required Qualifications:  

  • ALA-accredited master’s degree or equivalent by July 1, 2025.
  • Potential to meet the promotion requirements outlined in the University Library Promotion, Tenure, and Review Expectations
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).

  • Demonstrated experience managing electronic resources in an academic or research library. 

Rank, Salary & Benefits: 

12-month. Tenure-track. Assistant Professor level position. Budgeted salary for this position is $71,342. Nevada State University offers excellent benefits, including 17.50% retirement match, 24 annual leave days, beginning balance of 30 sick leave days, 12 paid holidays, educational benefits, and three health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
