·Directly supervises library location managers to ensure efficient, high-quality public service delivery and positive staff morale
Regularly meets with managers to address operational needs and promote responsive and dynamic library services
Proactively identifies and resolves operational challenges, streamlining workflows to enhance service efficiency
Oversees development and implementation of library security procedures in coordination with contracted security services
Collaborates with leadership and staff to maintain a safe, welcoming environment through effective security measures
Coordinates and conducts hearings for customers appealing service suspensions
Supports personnel management by addressing concerns, mediating conflicts, and ensuring compliance with HR policies and accommodations
Participates in performance and disciplinary discussions and assists in staff training and development as assigned
Knowledge of the principles, practices, and methods of library science and organizational management
Knowledge and experience in effective and professional business writing
Skill in effective organization to manage tasks and competing priorities
Skill in verbal and written communication to convey information clearly and professionally
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, evaluate outcomes, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of data and information, including both abstract and concrete variables
Ability to manage and prioritize numerous complex projects, grants, and contracts while effectively meeting deadlines

Driving is an essential function of this position. To be considered, you must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. If your driver's license is from another state, you will be required to obtain and show proof of a valid NC driver's license within 60 days of hire.
