Job Description
Job Summary: The Collection Services Librarian is responsible for managing and maintaining bibliographic and other metadata records, databases, and collections in print, digital, and other formats; managing and performing interlibrary loan functions; and serving as systems specialist for the Alma integrated library system. Essential Functions (Responsibilities): Catalogs and creates metadata for library resources in all formats (digital, print, and other formats) for the MLIC collections by adding records to the integrated library system, Digital Commons, or other system platforms using applicable metadata standards (US Format for Bibliographic Records, US Format for MARC Holdings, Library of Congress Classification and Subject Headings, EAD , etc.); Manages discoverability of all electronic and print resources using integrated library system and Springshare products; Manages all archival and special collections, utilizing national standards; Performs and manages interlibrary loan duties; Drafts policies and procedures; Assists with integrated library system administration and troubleshooting of e-resources; Leads projects for Collection Services; Assists with research services, as needed; Supervises student workers or other staff assigned to Collection Services tasks, as needed; and, Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned. Required Qualifications: Masterβs Degree in Library Science (or equivalent) 1-3 years of library collection services experience with cataloging using USMARC Format for Bibliographic and Holdings Data and Library of Congress Classification and Subject Headings Knowledge of EZProxy Basic knowledge of EAD and other archival collection management systems Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, and Outlook Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the company A collaborative team player, who can coordinate work effectively with employees, team members, and outside vendors High attention to detail, demonstrated practice of establishing effective priorities and meeting deadlines Strong customer service with a can-do attitude and positive interpersonal skills
Physical Demands
Work requires working with physical collections which will require bending, stooping, lifting, pushing carts, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
Integrated library system administration experience, preferred Experience managing digital resources and discovery systems, preferred Experience with OCLC , Alma, & Digital Commons preferred
