Under limited supervision, this position develops and conducts programs for children and caregivers which encourages reading, viewing, and listening skills, and the use of Library facilities and materials. Engages in outreach to schools, community organizations, and agencies that serve children and caregivers to further the mission of the Library. Pursues and applies for grant funding for children’s programs. Selects and purchases materials for the children’s and young adult areas. Evaluates and maintains children’s collections and oversees withdrawals of those materials. Works in a team environment with other Library staff to maintain daily operations, plan and execute activities/events, and to ensure that the Library is maintaining its vision within the community. Reports to the Library Director.
Essential Functions – Children’s Division
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Library Science or a related field and three (3) years of experience in a job related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
