The Cooke County Library is seeking a dynamic, community-focused professional to serve as Associate Director / Program Coordinator. This position supports daily library operations while leading engaging youth and family programming, outreach initiatives, and community partnerships.

The ideal candidate is passionate about public library service, enjoys working with children and families, and thrives in a collaborative environment focused on learning, literacy, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Library Director with daily operations, policy development, staff support, reporting, marketing, and service evaluation
  • Help manage and maintain library collections and public services
  • Oversee the library website, social media, and promotional efforts
  • Provide excellent customer service and reference assistance to patrons
  • Plan and lead educational programs, story times, workshops, outreach events, and Summer Reading activities for children, tweens, and families
  • Coordinate and maintain Family Place Libraries™ initiatives and certification requirements
  • Build partnerships with schools, childcare providers, and community organizations
  • Conduct tours, outreach visits, and library instruction sessions

Qualifications

  • Master of Library Science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution preferred
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Family Place Libraries™ certification preferred or willingness to obtain within 12 months
  • Four years of progressively responsible public library experience, including supervisory experience preferred
  • Equivalent combinations of education and related experience may be considered
  • Valid Texas Driver's License required

  • Knowledge of public library services, youth programming, and community outreach
  • Experience with library technology, integrated library systems, and Microsoft Office
  • A passion for literacy, intellectual freedom, and serving children and families
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, and collaborate effectively with staff and the public
