Essential Functions
The Open Educational Resources ( OER ) Librarian will promote the findability, adoption, adaptation, and assessment of open educational resources with faculty and staff. Successful candidates will have a strong understanding of trends and issues in OER and open pedagogy, including knowledge of open licensing, copyright, and fair use, and will be able to communicate these trends, issues, and knowledge to the campus community. The person in this role supports the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s goal to integrate open educational resources and open access textbooks into the curriculum; serves as the primary liaison to teaching faculty who want to adopt OER ; and assesses needs in regards to OER approaches. The incumbent will serve as the chair for UNO’s grant program, Affordable Content Grants: OER@UNO, overseeing all grant and committee activities. In addition, the OER Coordinator will serve as the STEM subject specialist. Subject Specialists provide library instruction and research assistance both online and in person; maintain team-based working relationships with colleagues in the department, library, and the university; participate in collection development and library liaison responsibilities in assigned subject areas; and fulfills requirements of faculty status in the areas of librarianship, scholarly activities, and service. CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Open Educational Resource Oversee and coordinate Affordable Content Grants: OER@UNO. Identify likely subjects for the development of OERs. Promote the use and/or adaptation of OERs for teaching and learning. Promote the discovery and use of UNO -created OERs to the educational community. Research and resolve intellectual property rights of materials utilized in the development and creation of OERs. Serve as an expert on open licensing, fair use, and copyright. Educate and support faculty, students, and staff on open content creation and publishing. Assess use of OER and communicate impact to stakeholders. STEM Subject Specialist Provide general and in-depth research consultations in an appointment-based model. Provide library instruction both online and in person to undergraduate and graduate students. Participate in the planning, designing, and testing of instructional content in a variety of formats, which may include learning activities, class outlines, video, quizzes, or LibGuides. Collaborate with faculty in assigned subject areas to develop and communicate the availability of library resources and services. Evaluate and select appropriate materials for assigned subject areas. Conduct ongoing review and de-selection of materials. Review of applications will begin on 02/19/2021 and will continue until a hire is made. Other Job Responsibilities Participate in the evaluation and assessment of programs and services, including compiling and analyzing statistical data. Develop and maintain current knowledge of advances in OER , research services, instruction, and other areas related to this position. Apply knowledge in continuously improving and advancing library programs and services. Participate in department and library planning. Develop and document processes and procedures; periodically reviews and revises processes and procedures as needed. Accept and implement other duties as assigned. Faculty Responsibilities Serve on library and/or university committees. Participate in cross-departmental projects within the library. Participate in professional activities, professional development and scholarly research and publication activities as outlined in the β€œGuidelines on Appointment, Reappointment, Promotion, and Tenure Recommendations for Faculty Members of the University Library”.

Required Qualifications
Required: ALA accredited MLS degree OR an advanced degree in a related field. Minimum one year experience with Open Educational Resources (coursework may substitute for professional experience). Familiarity with Canvas or other Learning Management Systems. Ability to assess and learn new technologies quickly. Successful project management in a collaborative environment. Ability to set and attain goals effectively. Excellent organizational, planning, interpersonal, communication and written skills. Ability to establish and maintain successful working relationships with staff and the university community. Must be flexible and capable of working successfully individually as well as in teams in a changing library environment. Must demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications
Reference experience in an academic or research library. Library instruction and/or teaching experience. Library experience providing STEM related services. Coursework in or experience teaching in a STEM field.
