POSITION SUMMARY
Under the general direction of an assigned supervisor, the Assistant Library Technician performs primarily service-oriented tasks in the Adult, Youth, Circulation, or Branch Services divisions. Supervision is not normally a responsibility of this classification but may act as lead worker for temporarily assigned employees, or special projects.
The Assistant Library Technician position is an Individual Contributor role that provides individualized customer service, programming, access to resources and information. Their role enables the community to explore and use free and accessible resources to build knowledge for a better life.
IMPORTANT
The Assistant Library Technician is a limited-service position that is scheduled up to 19 work-hours per week and is not benefit-eligible. This position may be required to work weekends, evenings, and on-call shifts.
Positions assigned to the Santa Maria Main Library may be assigned to work on the Library's Bookmobile vehicle and may be tasked to operate the Bookmobile vehicle on an as-needed basis. (See the Conditions of Employment Section below)

SELECTION PROCESS:
The most qualified candidates will be selected to appear before a panel for an oral interview. Those applicants invited to interview will be notified electronically at the e-mail address provided by each candidate through the application process.
