Provides customer service and paraprofessional library work in a main library or library branch, which includes general reference, adult or children's programming.
Responsible for providing quality customer service, maintains level of efficiency and standards of service.
Performs work using analytical, organizational, and communicative skills to assist people in finding information and using it effectively for professional and personal use.
Plans and implements work activities and programming pertinent to the specialty area.
Uses an integrated online operating system, print and electronic resources to assist customers.
Prepares and submits regular and special statistical and other reports as requested.
Selects books and materials for customers as part of the school library partnership. Gathers books on a specific topic for teacher pickup.
Perform other duties as assigned or as may be necessary.
In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.
Knowledge of principles and practices of library science; library system organization; methods and techniques.
Knowledge of literature and reading trends.
Knowledge of an online, integrated library operating system, including knowledge of circulation functions, public catalog, and research functions.
Proficiency with a PC and software at the level necessary to successfully complete the tasks of the job is required. Proficiency with MS Word and Excel is required.
Knowledge of reference services, virtual reference services and databases.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
All employees must attend Seminole County Required Trainings.
Department Specific trainings per position may be required.
Ability to communicate library mission, services, and resources to the public; communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
