POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Assistant University Librarian for Access Services, the primary purpose of this position is to serve as the main point of contact for Gumberg Library’s interlibrary loan service, EZBorrow. This position supports accurate stacks maintenance and maintains accurate and up-to-date records for library-to-library resource sharing and library-to-patron local lending. This position supports the accuracy of the Access Services Department’s online presence on Gumberg Library’s website. In addition, this position provides comprehensive customer service at any service point (physical or virtual) and resolve patron issues while supporting a welcoming and helpful atmosphere at Gumberg.As a member of the Access Services Department, this position is expected to respond to emergencies, alarms, and other work-related issues which require swift problem resolution
Work schedule is 35 hours per week and may include evening, weekend, and holiday hours.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversees lending, borrowing, and shipping processes of EZBorrow sharing, following consortial rules and guidelines for loan times and billing and serve as main point of contact for complex questions and issue resolution regarding the EZBorrow service and the ReShare software for Duquesne University users as well as our lending library partners.

Routinely serve as staff-on-duty, staffing various service points and responding to emergencies, alarms, and other work-related issues which require swift problem resolution. Effectively communicate issues, developments, and ideas for improvement to the AUL for Access Services, the Access Services Manager, and colleagues by completing the staff-on-duty report after each shift, reading others’ reports at the beginning of each shift, participating in weekly ASD staff meetings and one-on-one meetings with the AUL for Access 

Participates in the demonstration of library services to the campus community.

Trains new and existing full-time and part-time ASD staff on EZBorrow processing, as well as share any updates or integrations that may impact these processes or those of our other resource sharing services.   

Run weekly search lists for missing items and follow up on the results of the searches to support accurate stacks maintenance.

Keep FOLIO patron records up-to-date and communicate with patrons concerning billing and replacements. Add replacement fees to patron accounts and adds delinquent payments to student accounts through Banner. Routinely reconcile the online credit card payments with the FOLIO patron account.

Coordinates externally with appropriate contacts at partner libraries concerning borrowing and lending issues such as sending and requesting invoices as necessary. Coordinate internally with Collections and Metadata Services, the Director of Business and Administration, as well as department heads concerning billing and replacement items.

Under the direction of the Access Services Manager, assist in the supervision of duties carried out by student staff at the Circulation Desk, or in training and supervising specific tasks related to stacks maintenance or resource sharing.

Actively engage in position-related professional development: keep abreast of any changes to current practices or policies by monitoring the PALCI/EZBorrow communication channels and attending EZBorrow community meetings; serve on position-related committee memberships, such as the EZBorrow Advisory Council and Interlibrary Delivery Service for Pennsylvania (IDS) board; seek ways to support Gumberg Library’s established role as an EZBorrow member library actively engaged in improving access to research materials for our patrons and our consortial partners.
Assists AUL for Access Services in maintaining the accuracy of the public-facing ASD web pages for resource sharing services. 

Serves on relevant library and University committees and/or task forces as staff representative for ASD. 

Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned

Completes other duties as assigned. 



REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum qualifications:


Highschool diploma or equivalent.

Current experience: minimum of 2 years working in a public service area of a library, or any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions

Preferred qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following: 

Experience in academic and/or research library using software and databases as well as the ability to use these systems compile and manage data.

Ability to maneuver 35 lb. book carts and move books, including reaching and lifting.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University Community.
